How to Be The Bookie at Betting Exchanges
One sure way to have the edge in gambling is to be the casino - or, in the case of sports betting, to be the bookie. This is not a practical option for most sports bettors, unless they learn how to play bookie at the betting exchanges. I have done this over an extended period of time on Tradesports and can only highly recommend it. There is nothing like having a bunch of plays all over the board that you enjoy the mathematical advantage on.
You will have swings both up and down, just like a regular sports bettor. But when you are getting +110 or more on a fair betting line, as opposed to laying it, the money tends to pile up on your side when the dust settles. It is very difficult to lose money over the course of the season doing this.
I like to use the TradebetX.com platform that Tradesports provides for playing bookie, as the odds are presented in the familiar US Odds format. After getting the hang of it, you should be able to spot many places every day where you can put up an offer to “front” the big money on either side of a game. All you need is a reliable source of getting a fair betting line, such as goldsheet.com, and know how to adjust odds for pointspreads that have moved.
The reason you need to able to adjust for pointspread movements is because Tradesports uses the opening line and adjusts it 1/2 point in either direction to create a “no tie” situation. In my ebook I have created a chart that shows you how to do this, but in general for every 1/2 point the line is worse than the going line you want another 5% in the odds (and vice versa).
For example, if you see that the going line on Villanova over Boston College is -5 and Tradesports has the line at 4.5, you would take BC + 4.5 only if you can get +115 or better, but would be willing to take only +105 on Nova -4.5. Or at least, that’s the gist of it. Get in many situations like this and your bankroll will thank you. Right now with NCAA hoops, NBA, and NHL going every day it is easy to do just that.
